Well my name is Jason, I'm 29 going on 20  in mindset. When I was much younger I was touched by the MTB bug and regularly cycled to college, work, and out to see mates with regular blats in the local Bere forest.

This stopped rapidly when Mountain biking became uncool and Bmxing was in. I got involved in many aspects of Bmxing ranging from street riding, pissing off the local council by shredding up their benches with our burly grind pegs. This progressed into riding Mini ramp and skate parks. When this got expensive we went back to grassroots and started to build  dirt jumps in our local park land called Skelly woods.

Dirt jumping taught me a very important lesson..... it hurts! I cracked my face open on a set of doubles spanning a gap of 5-10m. Put off by this I quickly turned to Flatland riding. This is a discipline of riding which requires huge amounts of balance & patience, performing tricks with the bike in a small area usually on the one wheel using the bike as a platform.

I still have the bike and occasionally give her a dust off. It was only when chatting to Arnie about riding bikes a couple of years ago I somewhat got myself back into riding MTB and I'm currently loving it.

Muddy Me!

Well here is my very first update since this website was created!!!!

Anyhow... What have I been doing then you may ask? Well other than being very busy with general obstacles life throws at you, I've been out on the bike a fair few times and thoroughly enjoying my time back in the saddle.

My most recent adventure was tackling the Downhill track at the Wheal Maid Valley in Cornwall. Beany and Arnie have been nagging me like old women to get me to ride the Downhill, and finally I took the challenge. After a heavy day of work and a long 4 hour drive to Cornwall, shortly followed by a heavy night of drinking, the day had finally arrived!

Feeling reasonably ok, we made our way to the Downhill track, however I had to tackle the “Penance Punisher” A long steep ride up to the main road which leads down to the quarry. My many experiences of hills told me that I was not going to make it up and thus will start me off in a shitty mood! But to my surprise I managed to get up the punisher feeling pretty good,

I can only think it was my rapid weight loss while on prescription drugs or the still flowing beer in my veins from the night before!! On the way and feeling good, I felt instantly this was going to be a great day.

After a reasonably short ride down to the quarry my expectations were varied, especialy having seen some footage and pictures from the track I was feeling a little unsure of my abilities and hoping there were going to be no broken bones.

Once we made it to the top of the downhill we sat chatting and sharing tips and checking tyre pressures, I then realized I’m going down it. The chat stopped and riding commenced!

OHHHHH MY GOD!!!

Just riding in-between Beany & Arnie going at a respectable speed gave me an insight into how mad this track is! Berms, Jumps, tight left & right handers and long runs. Adreneline packed fun!!!!

So after walking back up clearing obstacles like rocks and clearing the bottom of the berms we made our way down again. This time I was going to take it a bit quicker now having tried my hand at this madness! Well the second run didn’t go so well I missed the main downhill berm section, maybe in fear or maybe because I lost sight of the track layout, I felt a little disappointed and knew I had to try again. This time with Beany as camera man behind me I knew I HAD to give it my best shot.

All I can say it I kept on the bike and managed to keep my nerves intact, with my Knees quivering and my heart pounding within my chest this was some serious fun, looking back on the days madness I can’t wait to do it all again……but faster!!!!

Yaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhh!!
